Closed rhinoplasty involves an incision made inside of the nostrils and is essentially a “blind” operation, while open rhinoplasty involves a tiny incision made across the columella (the area between the nostrils) to enable the surgeon to view the structure of the nose in its entirety. While closed rhinoplasty minimizes visible scarring, it is difficult to accurately shape the underlying cartilage this way which is why open rhinoplasty is Dr. Brucker’s favored approach to ensure the most precise and stable result.
Before having a tummy tuck or liposuction, it is important to be at a stable and manageable body weight, and to have a plan in place to avoid further pregnancies. Pregnancy or weight gain may cause your skin and muscles to stretch, which may necessitate further touch-up procedures.
Make sure you talk with your surgeon about what you are hoping to achieve with rhinoplasty and your expectations. Rhinoplasty is a very complex procedure, and no two are alike. For this reason, you should choose a surgeon who performs this procedure frequently and carefully and who explains goals as well as limitations of your surgery. Rhinoplasty causes visible swelling that can last for weeks and very minimal swelling that can persist for upwards of one year, meaning you will not have a clear sense of your final results right away.
